Middlewich has a rich heritage that has been investigated by many people both
from the town and outside of it.
The two main aspects that are well known are the Salt production and the
Canals. What is less well known (although this is being addressed) is the
wealth of Roman and Norman involvement in our town.
A Roman Middlewich Project, that has so far lasted several years, was begun
by the Town Clerk (Jonathan Williams) and Tim Strickland, MBE. More

More recently, Norman Middlewich is being investigated and this is likely to
last as long as the Roman project. Again, the link on the left gives more
