During the afternoon of 2nd December, the Over 70s in the town were treated to their traditional Carol service in the Civic Hall.  Later that afternoon, the Christmas lights were switched on by the Town Mayor, Cllr Jean Eaton and this was followed by the Christmas Carol Concert surrounding the Christmas tree on the Bull Ring and the next day saw the return of the Ice Rink, which attracted excellent crowds, despite the rainy weather.

The welcome return of the Middlewich Beer Festival again raised significant sums of money for charity over the weekend of 27th 28th October.  As this event has firmly established itself as a favourite of the beer connoisseurs in the town, it is yet another fixture of the burgeoning calendar of entertainment and enjoyment in the town.

On 16th September, a "Middlewich in Action" day was hosted by the Council for Voluntary Service in Middlewich Civic Hall.  This event recognised and celebrated the volunteers that make life so good in our town and attracted new volunteers and allowed many old friendships to be renewed.

The reformed "Middlewich Chamber of Trade" highlighted the variety of shopping and products available in our town on Saturday 26th August.

Middlewich Town Football Club played host to the first "Middlewich Olympix" organised by the Middlewich and District Round Table.  This event, held on 12th August this year, is intended to become another tremendous regular feature of the entertainment and enjoyment calendar.  Well done to all involved.

From Thursday 13th until Sunday 16th July, over 20 people from Middlewich visited the small hamlet of Venables in Upper Normandy, France to participate in the "Fifth Convention of Venables."  This built on the wonderful relationships that have been developing between the two communities, based upon the shared history which began with Gilbert de Venables helping William the Conqueror establish the modern England we know today.  For more information on the history of these links and the shared heritage, visit our "Norman Middlewich" pages.

Once more, the Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival attracted tens of thousands of people into the town and rocked the whole weekend long.  For information and pictures of the weekend, log onto the official website here.

The summer party for the Over 70s was hosted by the Middlewich Mayor and many of the Town Councillors, although this year they were helped for the first time by pupils and staff from Middlewich High School.  This took place in the Civic Hall on the afternoon of Saturday 03rd June.

Friday 12th May saw the Civic Ball take place in the Civic Hall once more.  Entertainment, good food, excellent company and money raised for the Mayor's Charity.  What more could an event have?

Saturday 6th May saw the continuing development of the Rose Fete with a full report being available on the special pages on this site. Click here for more.

Friday 28th April saw Town Mayor, Cllr Chalky White, and Town Clerk, Jonathan Williams, represent the town at the Annual Awards evening of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in the North West.  The Bull Ring competed with some major, multi million pound developments at the evening.  Once more, the little community of 14,000 souls punching above their weight.

The English are renowned for NOT celebrating St Georges Day in the way that the Scots, Welsh and Irish respectively enjoy themselves at Burns Night, St David's and St Patrick's days, therefore it was heartening to have a full Bull Ring on Saturday 22nd April to enjoy the Morris Dancers (four sides) and Sale Brass Band.  The atmosphere was so positive that the Morris sides remained for an hour beyond their expected departure time.

Saturday 28th January saw the inaugural Middlewich Burns Supper, in conjunction with the Mayor of Middlewich, Cllr Chalky White, and the Middlewich Royal British Legion.  Held in the private dining lounge of the RBL Club, this again raised money for the Middlewich Mayor's chosen charities, one of which is the RBL itself.
